Working relationship with the Director responsible for Student Recruitment ACM is a specialist music education provider with approximately 2,200 students on a range of FE and HE programmes in Games, Music Performance, Creative Artist, Production, Technical Services and Business. Job Title: Family Cafe Casual Worker

Reports To: Front of House & Café Manager

Rate of Pay: 16–17-year-old £6.40, 18–20-year-old £8.60, 21 and over £11.44

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure prompt, warm, and hospitable service in the Family Café consistently.
  • Prepare and serve beverages, snacks, and light meals to ACM staff, students, and Theatre patrons.
  • Portray ACM and The Family Cafe as inviting and inclusive establishments.
  • Adhere to opening and closing protocols supervised by the Front of House Manager.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Café, including stock rooms and kitchen, adhering to cleaning schedules.
  • Demonstrate initiative during quieter periods.
  • Contribute to the safety of the Café by promptly reporting any health and safety concerns to management.
  • Replenish Café inventory as needed, noting items requiring restocking.
  • Follow cash handling procedures established by the Front of House Manager.
  • Attend relevant staff training sessions as required by The Electric Theatre.
  • Keep accurate records of stock wastage.

Person Specification:

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • Prior experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Competence in numeracy and literacy.
  • Proficiency in cash handling procedures.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to collaborate effectively within a small team.
  • Strong verbal communication abilities.
  • Capacity to follow instructions accurately and complete tasks within designated timeframes.
  • Enthusiasm for the arts is advantageous but not mandatory.

Additional Information:

  • It is a Zero-hour contract. The Café could be open anytime between 08:00 – 23:00, Monday to Sunday.
  • Candidates should commit to a minimum of 2 shifts per week.
  • It is imperative for all team members to adhere closely to health and safety protocols.
  • Candidates must remain vigilant regarding allergy risks and ensure strict compliance with cafe management regulations.
  • Punctuality is essential, and candidates must notify cafe managers in advance of any changes to their schedules.
