Jobs at the Academy of Contemporary Music

Working for Us

ACM is at the forefront of innovative music education, successfully blending outstanding teaching with real industry engagement at all levels. We enjoy an exclusive partnership with Metropolis, one of Europe’s finest recording and mastering studios, which provides our students with unique opportunities to enhance their learning and professional development. We provide a dynamic, professional work environment where employees are empowered to shape our strategic and operational direction, and can offer rapid career development for those who want it.

As a specialist institution offering a range of HE and FE programmes, we blend the private sector ethos of forward thinking and business agility with the robust educational frameworks that underpin the best of the public sector. Through our strong academic partnerships, in existence for nearly two decades, students enjoy access to public funding and support mechanisms ensuring that they are admitted on the basis of their talent, rather than the ability to pay. Creativity and innovation co-exist with educational focus and rigorous frameworks.

If job satisfaction is important to you, we can offer you the opportunity to really make a difference to the operation of ACM, its students and staff. We are looking for people who can bring their expertise and integrate this into ACM’s education provision to keep us at the forefront of music industry education.

The fact that the education sector has undergone radical change in the last few years offers excellent opportunities to specialist providers of education such as ACM to engage with the policies and agencies that impact HE and FE education. For example, all ACM’s HE programmes are approved as designated courses, which enable our students to access student loans in the same way as students at traditional HEIs. We engage directly with public agencies, including the QAA, HESA, HEFCE, BIS, UCAS, the HEA, and your skills and experiences in HE will be put to good use in the enhancement of ACM’s alignment to the national HE framework.

What you can bring to us?

For our academic posts, we are looking to blend music industry experience and education.

We would like to hear from professionals with experience in the music industry who are committed to developing the knowledge and understanding of academic processes and frameworks. We will value your wider knowledge and experience of music and the music industry,

We would also like to encourage teachers from FE and HE institutions with educational qualifications and subject specialism in music, audio technology, music industry and business to bring their understanding of education frameworks, processes and rigour.

This blend of professional skills will ensure that our teaching staff are key stakeholders in our curriculum development and ensure that music education remains robust and relevant in this exciting sector.

For our administrative posts, a passion for music (and maybe some experience of the industry) is appreciated, but by no means a pre-requisite. We are focussed on a strong core of education experience for our administrative support posts, and a clear drive for excellence in the support of an outstanding student experience. We are confident that within a short time at ACM, we will have enhanced your knowledge of the music industry and provided you with a dynamic and supportive work environment in which you can develop your career.
