We are very proud and excited to announce a new pathway on our Further Education programmes – students studying at Diploma level at either ACM Guildford or ACM Birmingham will now be able to choose Songwriting as an option when deciding their specialism.

We have offered Songwriting as a pathway on our degree courses for a number of years, and have been honoured to offer both BASCA and Freddie Mercury Scholarships to our students studying Songwriting at Degree level during that time. We are proud to have nurtured many successful songwriting careers including Ebony Day, Charlie Holmes (The Saturdays), and Newton Faulkner, among many others.

“I’m so proud of how far all of my Creative Artist (Songwriting) degree students have come since the start of their course. Being able to offer songwriting at diploma level is fantastic, as students can really hit the ground running when they go on to degree.”
Kaya Herstad-Carney, Senior Songwriting Lecturer, ACM

Accredited by University Arts London (UAL), students opting to study this new pathway – or on any other ACM Diploma course – will benefit from the ability to gain the highest possible Level 3 qualification – worth up to 3 A Levels at A* grade. By gaining such a prestigious qualification, students will not only be able to progress to degree level at ACM, but also have the option to change direction and study at any other institution if they so choose.

“It’s a common misconception – mainly among parents, that studying music is not comparable with A-Levels or really academic. The truth is in fact the opposite! At ACM the diploma equates to three A-Levels up to A* grade and better still makes Maths and English actually count as the lessons and assignments are all centered on subjects with industry context. From deconstructing a publishing deal to studying models for distribution, it all counts towards the certificate and teaches our students how the industry actually works. ACM has seen its diploma students double in numbers and become a substantial part of what we do. Our focus on student welfare and practical learning makes it fun and relevant to what the industry needs. I can’t praise what our teachers and academic support staff do highly enough – my own daughter is auditioning to join in 2018 – which I hope says it all!”
Kainne Clements, Executive Chairman, ACM

The Songwriting Diploma is available at ACM Guildford and ACM Birmingham for 2018 entry.
