Other important ACM graduation information and FAQs follows:

Where and when will my graduation ceremony be held?

The graduation ceremony will be held at G Live, Guildford on Thursday 15th November 2018.  For venue details, see https://www.glive.co.uk. There will be two graduation sessions, separated by discipline:

Musician and Creative Artist Students will process at 1pm.  Students will be welcomed from 11am to be gowned  in order to be seated by 12:30pm.

Technical Services, Business and Production Students will process at 4pm. Students will be welcomed from 2pm to be gowned in order to be seated by 3:30pm.

Who can participate in graduation?

Anyone studying at Degree level with ACM who was still on programme with us (ie engaged with their studies) at the end of the summer term is invited to participate in the ceremony.  If, for whatever reason, you continue to be engaged with your studies by way of writing-up your assessments and/or awaiting final results/confirmation at the point of graduation, you will still be permitted to participate.  If, however, you have restarted your year and are now attending new classes at ACM (ie you are now part of a different cohort of students), you will be invited to join next year’s graduation ceremony, instead.

How does ticketing for the event work?

Unlike many institutions, ACM does not charge for participation in graduation. We provide every graduating student with a ticket of their own, plus up to two tickets for guests, free of charge.  You must RSVP using the graduation app (www.acm.ac.uk/graduationbookingsby the deadline of Friday 12th October at 5pm in order to secure your tickets and these are guaranteed. If you’d like to bring more than two guests to graduation, you can request those extra tickets using the app. The availability of extra guest tickets is not guaranteed and successful requests will be confirmed to you via email on October 19th.  Once any extra tickets have been confirmed as available, you’ll be able to buy them at a cost of £15 and we’ll provide instructions on how to purchase in your availability confirmation email.

How do I book my graduation robes?

As part of the graduation ceremony dress code, you are expected to hire and wear traditional graduation robes. To make the day as accessible as possible for everyone, we have worked with a third party company, Graduation Attire, ensuring that the hire costs are low. Please visit www.graduationceremony.co.uk to order your robes or call them on 01234 880 956. Robes must be booked before 31st October to guarantee availability and they also offer official photography services.

Is there a dress code?

Graduation is an opportunity to dress to impress. Along with your cap and gown, you are expected to wear smart attire. Casual clothing such as jeans, shorts, trainers or flip-flops is not appropriate to wear to graduation.

What happens on the day?

You should arrive at G Live roughly two hours before the start of your ceremony to give you time to collect your gown and have your formal graduation portrait taken. You will then be shown into the auditorium in time for the ceremony to begin. The ceremony should take approximately 90 minutes. It’s likely to be very busy, so please arrive as advised to avoid queues.

Can I reserve particular seats for my family and I?

Graduates will be seated at the front of the auditorium and will be advised of the seating plan on the day of their graduation. Guests will be allocated seats. Doors to the auditorium will open 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony. If you have an access requirement, please let us know by way of email to events@acm.ac.uk. You may also direct your enquiries to the G Live team; 01483 369350

What if I haven’t paid all of my fees?

If you have any outstanding debt with ACM and you do not already have an approved payment plan in place, we ask you to get in touch with the finance team on 01483 800 500 to make arrangements. If you are unsure about the status of your student finances, please contact the student finance team at studentfinance@acm.ac.uk.

Will we receive our degree certificates on this day?

As per usual University protocol, graduating students will be provided with a prop scroll for photography purposes on the day. Award certificates are distributed by the awarding body and posted to your registered home address within 4 months of your award being formally conferred at a Finalist Assessment Board.

Will there be an afterparty?

Earlier on in the academic year, some students expressed an interest in a Graduation Afterparty. We scoped out the possibility of providing an afterparty for students, but after surveying a wider group, came to understand that many of you are either opting to celebrate in the evening with family, or had already made other arrangements. We therefore feel our best efforts should be put into ensuring you enjoy the official ceremony as much as possible, and our staff will be there at G-Live to wish you well and onwards to your evening plans. We wish everybody an enjoyable Graduation evening.
