We are proud to announce the launch of our brand new pioneering course – the BA (Hons) Music Industry Practice – Rap & MC pathway.
Starting September 2019, the course will be available at both the Guildford and Birmingham campus. With the option to fast-track your studies, students can choose the accelerated two-year pathway which offers a saving of up to £5,500 in tuition fees and an average of £12,000 in livings costs.
The course will be led by professional rapper and winner of the AIM Independence artist award for hardest working rapper, ShaoDow. ShaoDow has helped create the technical studies modules including lyricism, flow, delivery and originality which are all vital skills for a professional rapper.
“I could not be more proud of the team at ACM who have put together this incredible programme for lyricists, rappers, MCs, and those of you who want to make beats. You know that you can really only get to where you want to be by collaborating – so that is what this is all about, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.”
Kainne Clements, CEO and Executive Chairman of ACM
The Rap and MC pathway Degree course has been announced following a recent study whereby pupils aged between 11 and 15 took part in a new project to teach electronic, grime and hip hop music in schools instead of classical. Pupils who’d been at risk of being expelled from school at the commencement of the study had attendance records of more than 95% by its end. Studying artists like Stormzy instead of Mozart, students got involved with the music industry and other local music-making projects, in partnership with their secondary schools. Links were also made to the students involved performing higher than expected in subjects such as Maths and English, as well as Music during the study, which was commissioned by Youth Music, and the research carried out by Birmingham City University.
Here at ACM, we have been building sustainable, long-lasting careers for its students in all corners of the music industry since 1995.
