ACM is proud to support 2018’s Girls I Rate Songwriting weekender (10 November) ; a two day workshop aimed to make all the difference. Its purpose? To empower future female songwriters by aiding them with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from the very best. The event will be conducted by Grammy-nominated songwriter,  and founder of the international Girls I Rate movement Carla Marie Williams. Carla Maria has collaborated with some of music’s biggest names, such as Beyonce, Britney Spears, Sigma and Sean Paul.

Alongside Carla Marie, the weekender will be supported by internationally acclaimed songwriters Tanya Lacey and Simon Smith.

The weekend is open to songwriters aged 16-30 and will take place in Clapham, within ACM’s London campus. The 15 successful applicants will gain access to the academy’s multiple recording studios, collaborative spaces and its performance theatre.

To close the workshop, there will be a mixer hosted by BBC 1XTRA & SBTV’s Presenter Nadia Jae, where the attendees will have their songs listened to by a crowd of special guests, including A&R’s, publishers and managers.

“I want to give girls across the world as many opportunities as possible that I didn’t have growing up. I want to encourage more women to pursue their dreams and help decrease the imbalance of female songwriters & producers at PRS which is currently 17% female”Carla Marie Williams

If you wish to apply, please do so directly via the Girls I Rate website.
