Get your gowns and mortar boards at the ready. ACM Birmingham Graduation comes to The Mockingbird Cinemas Wednesday 20th November 2019. Come and celebrate your ACM achievements with friends, loved ones and the whole ACM family.
There are 2 easy steps that you need to follow in order to take part.
- Tell us that you’re coming along by RSVP-ing using our ACM Graduation app at www.acm.ac.uk/graduationbookings. You’ll need you Learner ID in order to log in and we’ve sent it to you via SMS. If you haven’t received our message, please call 01483 500 841 and we’ll do our best to help. You MUST RSVP by 5pm on Wednesday 23rd October 2019 to take part in graduation.
- Book your gown and official photograph for the big day. All graduates are expected to wear a gown on the day. A third party company, Graduation Attire, operates the gowning and photography service on behalf of ACM. Once you’ve RSVP’d using our app, you can visit https://www.graduationgownhire.co.uk or call them on 01234 880 956 to book their services.
Other important ACM graduation information and FAQs follows:
Where and when will my graduation ceremony be held?
The graduation ceremony will be held at The Mockingbird Cinemas and Kitchens, Birmingham on Wednesday 20th November 2019. For venue details, see http://www.mockingbirdcinema.com/. The ceremony will begin promptly at 14:30, so please arrive for 13:00 to collect your caps and gowns.
Who can participate in graduation?
Anyone studying at Degree level with ACM who was still on programme with us (ie engaged with their studies) at the end of the summer term is invited to participate in the ceremony. If, for whatever reason, you continue to be engaged with your studies by way of writing-up your assessments and/or awaiting final results/confirmation at the point of graduation, you will still be permitted to participate. If, however, you have restarted your year and are now attending new classes at ACM (ie you are now part of a different cohort of students), you will be invited to join next year’s graduation ceremony, instead.
How does ticketing for the event work?
Unlike many institutions, ACM does not charge for participation in graduation. We provide every graduating student with a ticket of their own, plus up to two tickets for guests, free of charge. You must RSVP using the graduation app (www.acm.ac.uk/graduationbookings) by the deadline of Wednesday 23rd October at 5pm in order to secure your tickets and these are guaranteed. If you’d like to bring more than two guests to graduation, you can request those
extra tickets using the app. The availability of extra guest tickets is not guaranteed and successful requests will be confirmed to you via email on Wednesday 30th October Once any extra tickets have been confirmed as available, you’ll be able to buy them at a cost of £15 and we’ll provide instructions on how to purchase in your availability confirmation email.
How do I book my graduation robes?
As part of the graduation ceremony dress code, you are expected to hire and wear traditional graduation robes. To make the day as accessible as possible for everyone, we have worked with a third party company, Graduation Attire, ensuring that the hire costs are low. Please visit https://www.graduationgownhire.co.uk to order your robes. Robes must be booked before Wednesday 30th October to guarantee availability and they also offer official photography services.
Is there a dress code?
Graduation is an opportunity to dress to impress. Along with your cap and gown, you are expected to wear smart attire. Casual clothing such as jeans, shorts, trainers or flip-flops is not appropriate to wear to graduation.
What happens on the day?
You should arrive at The Mockingbird roughly two hours before the start of your ceremony to give you time to collect your gown and have your formal graduation portrait taken. You will then be shown into the auditorium in time for the ceremony to begin. The ceremony should take approximately 90 minutes.
Can I reserve particular seats for my family and I?
Graduates will be seated at the front of the auditorium and will be advised of the seating plan on the day of their graduation. Guests will be allocated seats. Doors to the auditorium will open 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony. If you have an access requirement, please let us know by way of email to email@example.com.
What if I haven’t paid all of my fees?
If you have any outstanding debt with ACM and you do not already have an approved payment plan in place, we ask you to get in touch with the finance team on 01483 800 500 to make arrangements. If you are unsure about the status of your student finances, please contact the student finance team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Will we receive our degree certificates on this day?
As per usual University protocol, graduating students will be provided with a prop scroll for photography purposes on the day. Award certificates are distributed by the awarding body and posted to your registered home address within 4 months of your award being formally conferred at a Finalist Assessment Board.
As a graduating student, your name will be published in the souvenir graduation programme, even if you will not be attending our graduation ceremony. If you would prefer your name not be included in this programme, contact email@example.com.
