Ashwin Seegobin, known as “Smash,” hails from London with Trinidadian roots, blending Caribbean rhythms with mainstream genres like RnB, Hip Hop, and EDM. After honing their skills in Trinidad & Tobago, Ash has collaborated with industry heavyweights like Busy Signal, Konshens, and Charly Black. Their prowess extends beyond music production and engineering; they hold a Bachelor’s Degree in animation, enabling them to delve into visual arts, including motion graphics and animated music videos. With a commitment to keeping their sound fresh, Ash frequently shuttles between the Caribbean and the UK. Predominantly focused on production, audio engineering, illustration, motion graphics, and animation, Ash brings a unique blend of Caribbean flavour and global influences to their diverse projects.

Marwan Elbergamy

Marwan ‘King Tut’ Elbergamy is a multi-platinum- producer. His expertise spans across various genres including Hip Hop, Indie, Rock, Country, and Pop.

Marwan boasts an impressive discography featuring renowned artists such as Jessie J, Ella Henderson, Professor Green, Maino, Joel Ortiz, Chip, Nekfeu, Wretch 32, and Dappy, among others.

His exceptional work has garnered numerous accolades, including Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond plaques from the UK, Europe, and the US. Marwan continues to make significant contributions to the music industry.

Marwan now heads up Artist Development at Metropolis Blue Rooms.

With over 15 years of experience in the recording industry, Paul has worked with a wide range of artists, from up-and-coming indie acts to some of the biggest names in pop, rock and hip-hop.

Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, Little Mix, Lewis Capaldi, Ella Henderson, Kid Cudi, William, Jessie J and many more have trusted Paul to help deliver their artistic vision.

Since joining Metropolis, Paul has worked on countless albums, singles, and EPs, and has become known for his calm demeanour and ability to bring the artist’s vision to life.

Paul’s approach to mixing is characterised by his attention to detail, his ability to bring out the best in each element of a mix, and his commitment to creating a dynamic and cohesive sound.

Joe Brice

Richard Connell

Joining Metropolis in 2017 as CEO, Connell has taken charge of Europe’s largest independent recording complex. Immediately, he set about returning the studio to what it does best by concentrating on its core business of recording, mixing, and mastering. This has reaped huge rewards and reminded the music business what Metropolis does best: putting the artist first. Always.

Prior to joining Metropolis, Connell spent nearly 30 years working in record labels, both independent and major, from a Parts Assistant at Mushroom Records all the way to Chief Marketing Officer of Sony Music and MD of Epic Records and Associated Labels. Working with artists as diverse as Beyoncé, Bob Dylan, Kasabian, Kings of Leon, One Direction, and the Foo Fighters, his career has been hallmarked by a simple, determined focus on bringing the commercial and the creative together.

Colin Bentham

Colin brings a vast array of diversity and knowledge to his teaching from over 20 years experience, after initially studying at ACM. He saw success with his tech metal band No Consequence, sharing stages with Sleep Token, Meshuggah, Tesseract, Animals As Leaders and touring as a session drummer for Heart Of A Coward.

Colin has been a leading player for the Anderton’s Drum YouTube channel, included in their infamous “sound like” videos, to critical acclaim. These videos have accumulated millions of views and have seen recognition from artists such as Mike Portnoy.

He has also seen success in the tribute scene, covering such bands as Linkin Park, Korn and with his own band Stiff Bizkit (Limp Bizkit). These musical endeavours have allowed him to tour the USA, UAE, Europe, Scandinavia and more.

Dr Tom Atherton

Tom Atherton is a highly experienced drummer, percussionist & composer with an expertise comfortably bridging popular, classical & contemporary styles. He has written, toured and recorded throughout Europe and the US, with notable contributions to Metal (De Profundis, Thing), Prog (Tim Bowness, Jo Quail) & Contemporary Persian music (Ali Azimi, Ajam). He has also developed a profile as an improviser with over 10 years of performance in VLookUp Trio. As an MD, Tom has worked for the BBC, coordinating multiple artists for their World Service programmes. Additionally, he has even found the time to appear in a Hollywood film performing with Alice Cooper!

He studied under several renowned composer-percussionists including Bill Bruford, Joby Burgess & Seb Rochford, and was awarded his PhD in 2021. Today, Tom continues to pursue research interests in global underground music scenes, genre fracturing & the incorporation of tuned percussion to the rock band, as well as maintaining his busy composing and performing career.

Chas WISDM

Chas Wisdm brings a diverse professional background as an artist, label owner, journalist, and educator. As the Senior Lecturer of Rap/MC HE at ACM, Chas specialises in imparting invaluable knowledge and skills in the realm of hip-hop. With a remarkable list of credits and experiences including the creation of the largest Remix in Hip Hop History with “Bars 50MC Remix,” festival appearances at renowned events like Boomtown, and collaborations with esteemed artists such as Doc Brown and Jamie Cullum, Chas expertise is unparalleled. Holding prestigious accolades like the MOBO Awards in 2021, 2022, and 2024, Chas stands as a beacon of excellence in the industry. When asked about the best thing about ACM, Chas highlighted, “The wealth of knowledge and experience collectively amongst the ACM is far above any other music University in the world!” Chas’ top three tips for students emphasise the importance of hard work, openness to learning and collaboration, and the value of punctuality.

Ed Hendry

Ed Hendry embarked on their musical journey at a young age, delving into drums and keys by twelve and joining function bands at thirteen. His fascination with live production sparked early, earning them the initial recording credit at just 16. Following university, Ed thrived as a drummer, recording engineer, and live engineer, collaborating with a diverse array of artists such as Denise van Houten, Etham, and Tilly Valentine. At ACM, Ed specialises in drumming and live production tutoring, emphasising both practical and business aspects of the industry. Ed values ACM’s vibrant community, recognising its potential for networking among aspiring musicians. Ed’s guidance for students stresses the importance of mastering specialised skills while diversifying, fostering social connections, and embracing punctuality as a crucial professional trait.
