ACMX

Welcome to ACMX, the new home of Research, Knowledge Exchange and Innovation at [ACM]. We’re excited to have a space to share some of the projects and initiatives happening across our community.

AC[M]X is a new function at ACM – this is the first year that we have been in receipt of HEIF funding.  Our remit is to meaningfully connect people, ideas and expertise across our institution, with each other and the wider world. We work alongside our colleagues and alumni as well as businesses, communities charities, organisations and other external collaborators to explore challenges, develop new concepts and create opportunities with social and economic impact.

Problem solving

We believe that the most interesting work starts with a question, conversation or an idea and sometimes simply bringing our community together can spark new ways of seeing and doing things.

Celebrating and sharing our creativity

Whether you’re already working with an external partner, developing a research project, responding to an industry brief or simply have an idea you’d like to explore with colleagues, we’d love to hear about it.

Making your innovation visible

We are in the process of undertaking a stakeholder mapping exercise – to track and understand our partnerships and external relationships, we will be visiting each campus to speak with teams about this as we create the partnerships map.

So, come and say hi, share what you’re working on, and let’s explore what we can do together as we build our network and share our knowledge with each other and the wider world acmx@acm.ac.uk

In this month’s newsletter, you’ll find highlights from across AC[M]’s research, knowledge exchange and innovation activity, celebrating the people, partnerships and projects helping to shape the future of the creative industries see links to latest national funding calls and a link to our latest event.

ACM Part-Time School

Know a young musician who’s ready to take things further? ACM’s Part-Time School runs weekly evening courses during term time at the Guildford campus for 12–17 year-olds with some playing or production experience already under their belt.

There are two pathways to choose from — Performance and Music Production — both taught to ACM’s industry standard, with real showcase opportunities along the way. Performance students get to play live, and production students develop studio-grade DAW and recording skills. There’s a 25% sibling discount for families, too.

It’s more than a hobby class: the Part-Time School is designed as a genuine stepping stone towards ACM’s further education music programmes, taught in the same world-class facilities, by the same industry-active tutors.

For term dates, availability and to apply, visit the Part-Time School page.
