Purpose of role: 

Alongside the Booking Team the Studio Manager is a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of the Studio Business to ensure the seamless delivery of our studio recording offer alongside delivery of the Studio financial objectives. This is achieved through close collaboration with stakeholders both internal and external.  Including but not limited to artists, labels, management, external and internal engineers and tech.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Overseeing all aspects of co-ordinating the diaries across all studios and where relevant the writing/production rooms.
  • Negotiating optimum rates for studios in relation to the studio budget
  • Booking and confirming all sessions for studios
  • Ensuring all required information/tapes/equipment relating to a session is in place prior to commencement of the session
  • Scheduling the assistants and engineers both on and off sessions
  • To be responsible on a daily basis for the verification and accuracy of session sheets, ensuring that all assistants get session sheets signed off at the end of each day. In addition, you should ensure that all information relating to a session has been compiled as soon as the session ends or at the end of each week, whichever is the sooner.
  • Ensuring that all the administration including session sheets and invoicing for sessions is completed correctly and to the appropriate system
  • Compiling monthly recharge bills for in-house Producers/Writers including tape, phone, bar and transport.
  • Hitting the monthly time and studio sales targets as per the budget and negotiating optimum rates for the market conditions.
  • Working with the finance team to create the annual sales forecasts and to be responsible for implementing and adhering to them.
  • Driving the studio business forward by continuously sourcing new clients, potentially from other markets and seeking longer term relationships.
  • Maintaining regular contact will all clients to find out their studio requirements and to encourage
  • Metropolis to be their ‘first call’ studio.
  • Working closely with the majors to ensure Metropolis offers them cost efficient solutions to their studio requirements.
  • Actively promoting the engineers to clients.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Engineer ensure that all the studios are maintained to the highest Metropolis standards.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential: 

  • Knowledge/Experience
  • Must have minimum of at least 4 years proven experience as a
  • studio manager or equivalent
  • Established client base.
  • Competent knowledge in operating computer software and
  • recording devices.
  • Competent knowledge in studio equipment.
  • Knowledge in electronics and acoustics
  • Willingness to deal with clients during out of office hours.
  • Be client facing and able to work under pressure.
  • Passion for music.
