To consider

  • All fees are prorated based on point of entry.
  • Retakes or resits a student may be required to attend are not included in the Annual tuition fees. Additional costs may apply in these circumstances.
  • Students on ACM programmes involving performance are expected to have their own instrument and gear including a lead to connect to amplifiers (i.e. guitar, bass etc.) for use in lectures and practice.
Vocal students should have a microphone and lead.

    • Drum students should bring their own sticks and headphones (for electronic kits) for use in lectures and practice.
    • Production and keyboard students will need a suitable pair of headphones for use in lectures and studio practice.
    • Technical Services lectures may require suitable footwear.
    • We also recommend that all students invest in a set of moulded in-ear protectors. Foam in-ear protectors are made available free of charge.
  • Occasionally ACM offers field trips, studio visits, and other external activities. Some of these may incur a charge or travel costs. These activities are optional and are not a specific requirement for the programme award.

Financing your studies

Securing Government Funding (Undergraduate)
Students can apply for government funding towards annual Tuition fees. Payments of any fee loan are made directly to ACM. Students only need to make personal contributions towards tuition where a fee loan has not been approved, does not cover the full level of tuition or where a fee waiver has not been approved to cover the difference in fee loan and overall annual fee.

Securing Government Funding (Diploma)
Students who secure government funding will not be required to make any personal contributions towards tuition. However, funding may be retracted, and fee liability may revert to the student if your personal circumstances change.

ACM offers some students the opportunity to secure financial support towards the cost of the course each year in the form of Bursaries or Scholarships.

Please see those individual pages for more information.

Student Loans (Undergraduate)

ACM are pleased to confirm that the Office for Students (OfS) has registered ACM in the Approved fee cap category. The Office for Students has informed all student finance bodies that we are now registered as an approved fee cap institution. Following this registration, students are now eligible to submit an application to Student Finance England or their equivalent body for tuition fee loans, maintenance loans and grants. Visit www.officeforstudents.org.uk for more information.

Eligible students will now be able to apply for a fee loan that covers the full tuition fees, without any need for personal top-up fee payments.

Students from Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland will also have access to student loans to study at ACM. However, not every region will provide a loan to cover the full cost of tuition. ACM will offer fee-waivers to eligible students from these regions where their loan does not cover the full cost of tuition due to their local fee loan policy.

Applications are now open for 24/25 funding

If you have previously completed a programme at the same level or higher level of study, you may not be able to obtain funding to support your studies and therefore may be required to pay the full funding fee.

Access to Maintenance support depends on the level of household or family income and your individual circumstances. This will vary between each funding region. Please visit the relevant website below.

Students in the accelerated years of the degree may also qualify for additional living support in the form of a long-course loan, to help with the living costs for the additional period of attendance each year. Again, the exact amount a student will get depends on their income and personal circumstances

Students may also qualify for additional support to help with any disability or dependants depending on the individual circumstances. Please contact your funding region for more individual information.

How to Apply

It is important to note that students should apply for finance using the details that follow and NOT use the UCAS course code. You also need to apply for funding where you normally reside, rather than where you live during any study.

Applications and more information can be found via the following websites:

ENGLAND – https://www.gov.uk/student-finance

SCOTLAND – https://www.saas.gov.uk/

WALES – https://www.studentfinancewales.co.uk/

New students should use the following course information when applying for support.

Institution Name: ACM Guildford Ltd

[Please note that students of all ACM campuses should use this institution name, and it does not reflect which campus you are actually studying at]

SLC institution code: ABZS

Students who will be attending ACM Guildford should then choose from one of the course options below:

If you are in receipt of an offer to join us on a Higher Education Programme of study at ACM, it is very important that you start (if you have not already started) your application for Student Finance as soon as possible. There is no need to wait for your final exam grades. It is much easier to make changes or even cancel an existing Student Loan application than it is to apply late and experience a delay in funding.

At the end of the application process, there is a page for you to print off, sign and post to the relevant Student Finance provider in your region (e.g. Student Finance England). This piece of paper is crucial, and without this, your Student Finance money will not be paid to you. You can log into your Student Finance online account to retrieve this form if you have not already sent it in.

If you encounter any problems during this process, get in touch with Student Finance at ACM on 01483 500 848 or studentfinance@acm.ac.uk.

Fee waivers (Undergraduate)

Fee Waivers – Students that are eligible to receive a tuition fee loan from a non-English UK-student finance body but cannot receive a loan to cover the full annual tuition fees will be offered a Fee Waiver to cover any difference in fees; Our aim at ACM is to ensure students will not be required to pay any top up fees where student loans don’t cover the full amount. Fee Waivers will be allocated once students confirm they have been awarded their student finance. Fee Waivers are only applicable for years that students are eligible for a tuition fee loan.

Government Postgraduate Loans

Students can apply for government funding towards annual Tuition fees. Payments of any fee loan are made to you, and it will be your responsibility to pay the tuition fee to ACM.

Students will only need to make personal contributions towards tuition where a fee loan has not been approved, does not cover the full level of tuition or where a fee waiver has not been approved to cover the difference in fee loan and overall annual fee.

FAQ

You can apply for a student loan via. the gov.uk website https://www.gov.uk/student-financeLinks to an external site.

Applications for Student Finance open in March. The earlier you apply, the better! It can take between 6 and 8 weeks for Student Finance to process your application.

Yes. You will need to apply for a student loan every academic year. It does not automatically roll over.

If you are not sure that you have enough funding for this academic year, then you need to check with Student Finance. Contact details for Student Finance can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/guidance-on-contacting-the-student-loans-companyLinks to an external site.

If you do not have enough funding and cannot secure any more, then you will be considered a self-financing student and will have to pay the tuition fees yourself.

Unfortunately not. If you have already completed a degree, then you won’t get any funding if you want to study a second one. You will need to pay for this yourself.

If you are from the EU and have either Pre-Settled or Settled status, then you can apply for a tuition fee loan. If you don’t have either status, then unfortunately, you will not be eligible to apply for a student loan.

If you are going to use a Postgraduate Loan to pay for the stand-alone Postgraduate course, please note that Student Finance will pay the loan to you directly and not to ACM. You are responsible for ensuring that the tuition fees are then paid to ACM.

If you have any questions about applying for a Student Loan, you can email studentfinance@acm.ac.uk
