ACM’s unrivalled connections with the music industry were showcased again in April, this time at Threshold Festival in Liverpool, which featured a host of ACM students performing, as well as working behind the scenes in artist liaison and stage management, thanks to ACM tutors Kaya Herstad-Carney and Chris Carney, who run the festival!
Kaya and Chris are perfect examples of the calibre of tutor that we enjoy at ACM, and as such it comes as no surprise that they are relentlessly busy outside of their teaching roles, having set up Threshold Festival in 2011.
This year, they enlisted the help of students and alumni from various pathways at ACM to ensure the smooth running of the festival, and invited a number of ACM artists to perform!
Chinchilla (Creative Artist pathway student Daisy Bertenshaw), and Vez Maxwell (Creative Artist pathway student & Freddie Mercury Scholarship winner), performed on the SoulFest stage, while Will Rowe-Parr (2016 alumnus) performed on the Hope Festival stage.
Creative Artist student Toby De Kretser volunteered as Stage Manager, and was so good that he has now been offered work with the production company. Technical Services students Faye Oliver and Alex Obodai also volunteered on the production crew, while Technical Services alumna Megan Wills was on the social media/promotion team for the second year running.
A number of 2nd-year ACM students (Victoria Bass, Fiona Currie, Emily Rose, Dean Parker, Giles Stelfox, Stefan Nistor, and alumna Ana-Maria Lazar) were also recruited for Kaya’s band Science of the Lamps, who played a series of 6 shows around the UK with New York band Emergency Tiara in the run up to the festival.
We’d like to congratulate all of our students, alumni, and tutors for their amazing work at Threshold Festival, and for continuing to be such excellent representatives of ACM on the UK music scene.
