The Skunk Anansie Scholarship rewards one performance student at ACM London, ACM Guildford or ACM Birmingham with support for up to 3 years of study, worth £27,000.

The Skunk Anansie Scholarship rewards excellence in Performance on Degree programmes at ACM London, ACM Guildford or ACM Birmingham, paying for a student’s entire tuition fees for the duration of their study.

The award winning British rock band have been working for more than 20 years and are therefore perfect role models for ACM’s students.  In between studio recording and touring with the band, guitarist Ace works at ACM as its Head of Creative Industry Development and drummer, Mark Richardson, is a Wellbeing Coach for the academy’s students.

Skunk Anansie vocalist, Skin, said “We are so excited to be able to offer such a life changing opportunity in partnership with ACM. Starting out in music can be tough financially, so being able to take away that burden for someone who is at the very beginning of their journey is incredibly rewarding. We love the fully immersive experience that ACM offers its students and are so excited to see the shortlist.”

Executive Chairman of ACM, Kainne Clements, said “It’s fantastic to work with Skunk Anansie, who are truly inspiring role models for our study body. I know the band members to be incredibly hard working people and living proof of the ability to enjoy a life-long, sustainable career doing something that you love.  We look forward to receiving scholarship entries and to awarding the scholarship to the lucky recipient.”

How to apply for The Skunk Anansie Scholarship:

1. If you have not done so already, apply to a relevant programme of study at either ACM Guildford, ACM London or ACM Birmingham.  You may choose from the BA (Hons) Music Industry Practice (Musician Pathway) programme at ACM Guildford or the BA (Hons) Professional Music Performance programme at ACM London and ACM Birmingham. Applicants to the relevant ‘Level 0’ / Foundation Year precursors at ACM Guildford will also be accepted. Instructions can be found on our Apply page.

2. Complete our Audition process.  Successful candidates will be issued with an offer of study.  Return your offer of study and reply as FIRM via UCAS.

3. Send a an email to with the subject Skunk Anansie Scholarship Submission from < INSERT NAME >.  The email should contain a link to a video in which you perform a track that best shows your capabilities as a performer.  Be sure to introduce yourself in the video.  Before your performance, tell us who you are, what your history is and what your ambitions are for the future.  Tell us what winning the Scholarship would mean to you.  For the purpose of this Scholarship, we are only able to consider one track per applicant and you should choose a track that shows off your best technical skills.  No collaborative work will be accepted, but it is acceptable to have other performers supporting the applicant in the form of a band.  Please note, as this is a performance scholarship, it is the quality of the performance that will be judged, and not the quality of the video production. That said, ACM encourages students to submit videos that demonstrate the best of all of their creative capabilities. Entries must be received by the end of Friday 28th June 2019.

4. Entries will be shortlisted initially by a panel of ACM judges, before being reviewed by the members of Skunk Anansie, when the winner will be announced.

ACM and Skunk Anansie would like to wish all of this year’s applicants the very best of luck!
