Created in the name and memory of the founder of the ACM Music Business School, and supported by The Lowde Music Trust, The Keith Lowde Scholarship rewards one Music Business or Technical Services student at ACM London or ACM Guildford with support for up to 3 years of study, worth £27,000.

The Academy of Contemporary Music is delighted to announce, in partnership with The Lowde Music Trust, the launch of The Keith Lowde Scholarship.  The scholarship will fully fund a student’s journey through one of ACM’s Music Business or Technical Services programmes, paying for their entire tuition fees for the duration of study.

keith-lowde-e1499196730375 The Lowde Music Trust was set up in the name and memory of Keith Lowde, the founder of ACM’s Music Business School.  Keith was a leading figure in the UK music industry and his sudden death in a tragic accident resulted in a collective desire by his family, friends, and colleagues to create a lasting legacy in his name.  Keith’s passion had always been to help and enable other people to achieve and succeed. He cared deeply about the creative and performing arts, and was instrumental in helping people protect their intellectual property rights, and realise their potential.

Keith’s work made a real difference to hundreds of students’ lives and now The Lowde Music Trust continues this work through a series of awards and mentoring programmes for talented music students, creative entrepreneurs and young people across the country.  The Trust works to advance the education of young people in the subject of music and performance, as well as promote positive health and wellbeing among young people, more widely.

Oliver Sussat,  Director at ACM, says,

“Keith Lowde was an incredibly special man – the patriarch of ACM’s Music Business School and an inspiration to so many young people.  Keith taught by example, helping our students to build careers in music, but just as importantly, personal and professional values to be proud of.  I was so very privileged to spend a number of years in his company here at ACM, and I am proud that we are able to work with The Lowde Trust to keep his memory, care and spirit here with us today.”

How to apply for The Keith Lowde Scholarship:

1. If you have not done so already, apply to a relevant programme of study at either ACM Guildford or ACM London.  You may choose from the BA (Hons) Music Industry Practice (Business and Innovation Pathway) or the BA (Hons) Music Industry Practice (Technical Services Pathway) programmes at ACM Guildford or the BA (Hons) Music Business & Innovation programme at ACM London and ACM Birmingham.  Applicants to those pathways including the ‘Level 0’ / Foundation Year precursor at ACM Guildford will also be accepted. Instructions can be found on our Apply page.

2. Complete our Audition/Interview process.  Successful candidates will be issued with an offer of study.  Return your offer of study and reply as FIRM via UCAS.

3. Send an email to with the subject Keith Lowde Scholarship Submission from < INSERT NAME >.  The email should contain a link to a video (of no longer than 3 minutes in length) in which you introduce yourself, tell us about your interests and experience to date, and share with us your ambitions for the future.  Tell us what winning the Scholarship would mean to you.  Please note, as this scholarship is for those wishing to pursue a career in Music Business or Technical Services, we are particularly interested in any entrepreneurial ideas that you may have, any business projects that you might have already worked on, any artist work you’ve already undertaken (for example, have you helped somebody with a recording or performance project?), as well as any events that you have been involved in from an organisational / production perspective.  Where you have supporting footage of your previous experiences, we would be happy to see this included in the video. Although we encourage applicants to use all of their skills to produce the final submission, it is not the production quality of the video that will be judged, but the content of the submission.  Entries must be received by the end of Friday 28th June 2019.

4. Entries will be shortlisted initially by a panel of ACM judges, before being reviewed by members of the Lowde Trust, who will choose the final recipient.

ACM and The Lowde Trust would like to wish all of this year’s applicants the very best of luck!
