announcing the ivors academy scholarship.
The Academy of Contemporary Music is delighted to announce the continuation of its exclusive partnership with The Ivors Academy, offering ‘The Ivors Academy Scholarship’ to one student deemed to have outstanding talent as a songwriter. The scholarship will fully fund a songwriter’s journey through the BA (Hons) Music Industry Practice (Creative Artist Pathway) programme at ACM Guildford and ACM Birmingham or the BA (Hons) Commercial Songwriting programme at ACM London, paying for their entire tuition fees for the duration of study.
The Ivors Academy exists to support, protect and celebrate music creators in the UK. We are the independent professional association representing songwriters and composers in all genres, whether they create song, symphony or sync. Previously known as BASCA, we can trace our history back over 70 years.
As champions of music creators, we have three main activities: campaigning, cultivating and celebrating. Find out more at ivorsacademy.comRequirements for this scholarship are as follows:
– One video of a live performance of a song
– a 500 word/2 minute description of songwriting process
– Lyric sheet
how to apply for the ivors academy scholarship:
1.To apply to The Ivors Academy Scholarship programme, you must be on a Creative Artist of Songwriting course at either ACM Guildford, London or Birmingham (this means locked in firm on UCAS and your ACM contract sent back!). If you’re not currently a student at ACM, fear not, simply follow the instructions on our Apply page to get your ACM journey started. Applicants to the Creative Artist Pathway including the ‘Level 0’ / Foundation Year precursor at ACM Guildford will also be accepted.
2. Next, send an email to email@example.com with the subject line “Scholarship Submission from Your Name”. Make sure the email contains a link to a video that captures your very best capabilities as a songwriter.
Be sure to introduce yourself – we want to know who you are!
Explain to us all about your history as a songwriter and what your ambitions are.
Tell us what winning the Scholarship would mean to you.
Keep in mind we are only able to consider one track per applicant so chose a track that shows off your greatest skills. Please do not send us collaborative work, we want to see what you can do. However, we will accept other performers participating on your track, such as in the form of a backing band.
Don’t worry about the quality of your video, performance or production; this is a video to showcase your ability in writing songs. Nevertheless, we do welcome videos that demonstrate the best of all your creative skills, so don’t hold back. Entries must be received by the end of June 5th 2020.
3. Entries will be shortlisted by a panel of ACM judges, before being reviewed by members of the Ivors Academy board. They will choose 3 finalists to perform live at their annual Summer Party (usually held in August), where the winner will be announced.
From ACM and Ivors Academy, we wish you the very best of luck!
