Ace Scholarship – Creative Artist Degree – Birmingham ACM

The Ace Scholarship endorsed by Ace, the guitarist from UK rock band Skunk Anansie, rewards excellence in Performance and Artistry on The Create Artist Degree programme at ACM Birmingham, paying for their entire tuition fees for the duration of their study. PRS Guitars kindly sponsor Ace and ACM too and will provide a guitar to the winning student.

Ace says:

“ACM Birmingham holds a special place in my heart as well as my professional career. As a boy I gained my musical education here on the streets watching all the bands play and hanging out in the music stores until I was ready to take the stage myself and clock up 6 million LP sales. For the past 25 years alone I have been playing venues here on tour in Skunk Anansie, and hold the city and music scene with high regard.”

“To be able to support and nurture new talent in the Birmingham ACM campus is a great honour and I feel a valuable investment in the city’s rich musical heritage.”

“I am proud to be able to offer this scholarship and really look forward to hearing the entries from the candidates!”

How To Apply for The Ace Scholarship:

1. To apply for the Ace Scholarship programme, you must be on a Creative Artist course at ACM Birmingham (this means locked in firm on UCAS and your ACM contract sent back!). If you’re not currently a student on this course, fear not, simply follow the instructions on our Apply page to get your ACM journey started. Applicants to the relevant ‘Level 0’ / Foundation Year precursors at ACM Birmingham will also be accepted.

2. Send an email to with the subject line “Ace Scholarship Submission from Your Name”. Make sure the email contains a link to a video that captures your very best capabilities as a performer and artist.

Video Tips:

  • Be sure to introduce yourself – we want to know who you are!

  • Explain to us all about your history as a performer and what your ambitions are.

  • Tell us what winning the Scholarship would mean to you.

  • Keep in mind we are only able to consider one track per applicant so chose a track that shows off your greatest skills. Please do not send us collaborative work, we want to see what you can do. However, we will accept other performers participating on your track, such as in the form of a backing band.

  • Don’t worry about the quality of your video production, (this is a film to capture your capabilities in performance and artistry, not film!). Nevertheless, we do welcome videos that demonstrate the best of all your creative skills, so don’t hold back. Show us your most creative concept, alongside your greatest track and a truly inspiring performance.   Entries must be received by the end of Friday 16th August 2019.

3. After your email submission, entries will be shortlisted by a panel of ACM judges and Ace, and then Ace will decide the final Scholarship winner.

From ACM and Ace, we wish you the very best of luck!
