ACM brings Metropolis to Guildford after officially unveiling a
brand new flagship recording facility
ACM was thrilled to unveil its brand-new state-of-the-art recording facility housed in its Guildford campus on Monday 29th January.
Designed by the best technical minds of ACM and Metropolis, the new studio mirrors the industry standard expected of Europe’s largest recording
facility.
An exclusive guest list of press and industry were invited to see the studio in action with Grammy Award winning engineer Liam Nolan (Adele, Jess Glynne, Calvin Harris etc) leading a live recording session of the ACM Electron Choir.
Guests were amazed to see the large live room which can even cater for orchestral set ups, alongside the unique stone-room which offers students an alternative resonance and sound for their recording sessions.
Communication was a key factor in the design process and guests were impressed to see a direct-line of sight between the control and live rooms.
ACM’s unique learning by doing ethos is at the heart of everything the Academy does so installing industry grade gear was a must when fitting the studio – which is why an SSL Duality console was chosen.The new studio will be used by ACM’s world-class tutors for lectures, workshops and masterclasses, such as their annual Audio Production Event (APE). When the studio isn’t in use by timetabled events, all ACM Guildford students will be given the opportunity to book the space.
