Study Block 2 – 20 Credits
Artist Case Study and Evaluation examines the techniques, methodologies and repertoire of iconic artists within a particular specialism.
The concepts explored in this module are intended to facilitate the development of your individual approach and should be applied within a broader musical context over the duration of the course.
In addition to learning a representative portion of an artist’s repertoire, you will be required to present a critical analysis of the historical, social and cultural factors that shaped that artist’s unique sound and style.
You will expand your critical analysis through the inclusion of musical notation and commentary on how the transcription evidences the artist’s unique voice. Your lecturer or module leader must approve all choices of artists and repertoire.
