Students at ACM Guildford had a very special guest pop into their ‘Odeon Sessions’ class recently, in the form of the vocalist of 90s Britpop band, Republica – Saffron!

Saffron was interviewed by ACM’s Head of Industry Development, Ace (who also happens to be the guitarist in Skunk Anansie), and she shared with the group her top tips and tricks for achieving a long-lasting career in the music industry. When speaking about the band’s biggest hit ‘Ready To Go’, she told students that it received over 400 syncs, which is a fantastic revenue stream for artists these days.

During the session, she discussed the importance of diversifying yourself in today’s music industry and shared that she’s currently working on many different projects, from music through to TV.

Saffron Republica at ACMAs the class drew to a close, ACM’s house band were invited on stage to join Saffron in an exclusive performance of ‘Ready To Go’. The session was truly a memorable one and Saffron herself was very impressed by our students’ performance capabilities: “It was great to do a live performance with the ACM music students’ house band – they were exceptional, and they played it perfectly with just one sound check!”

Saffron also commented on how much she enjoyed the session as a whole: “It was very exciting for me. I’m a mentor, like my friend Ace, and it’s great to inspire and empower upcoming artists.”

We’d like to say a huge thanks to Saffron for joining us and hosting such a brilliant session for our students.
