Visitors, tutors and students may not have spotted the new addition to the ACM Main Reception, but once you do spot it you may want to take a moment to marvel at its splendor.
For those who haven’t had a chance to visit ACM in a while, Queen’s Roger Taylor has kindly loaned a very special drum kit following his visit to ACM when he toured the facilities and dedicated the new Roger Taylor Zildjian Studio.
This Ludwig Kit (nicknamed “Silver Glitter”) is from the Game tours of 1980 & 1981 and has toured the world – including America, South America, Asia, Europe and the UK. It features a 26″x16″ Bass drum, 13″x12″ & 14″x 14″ Rack Toms, 16″x16″ & 18″x16″ Floor Toms and Ludwig Coliseum 14″x8″ Snare Drum.
“We are privileged and honoured that Roger has chosen to lend us one of his kits to display here at ACM. It is a legendary piece of Rock history and will inspire our students every time they view it.”
James Connell Operations Manager
The kit also featured on a number Queen music videos including ‘Another One Bites the Dust’, ‘Play the Game’ (Freddie jumps off the front of the kit) and also on the DVD Queen Rock Montreal concert.
In honour of Roger’s achievements, ACM has now mounted the kit onto a perspex platform and suspended it for all to enjoy.
