Since meeting a fresh faced Ed Sheeran back in 2009 during an open mic night at The Cross Kings, Newrising knew that their paths would cross once again. Now three down the proverbial road and who should request Newrising to support his upcoming sell-out performance at Thetford Forest; none other than the singer/songwriter of the moment, Ed Sheeran.
“I bought Newrising’s album at the Kings Cross gig and it is been one of my favourites over the last two years. I think they are awesome!”
Ed Sheeran On Newrising
Hailing from Guildford, Newrising trio Jay Carter, Adam Knight and ACM Bass Alumni Tom Weymouth, combine strong instrumental ability and intertwine with hypnotic three part harmonies. Taking their influence from a plethora of genres including funk, roots, urban soul, reggae, blues, rock and latin, Newrising have themselves been making waves, playing some of the UK’s best and biggest festivals including Bestival and Secret Garden Party.
Now Newrising now find themselves as the confirmed support for Ed’s first ever forest gig in front of a sell-out crowd of 8,000 people on 12th July in East Anglia and are understandably excited about joining an old friend and fan for this unique performance opportunity.
“To say I’m excited is by far an understatement!”

The concert is officially sold out but there are a handful of tickets still available to catch Ed Sheeran and Newrising reunited, in what promises to be a great musical treat.
ACM would like to wish Newrising (especially ACM Alumni Tom Weymouth) and Ed Sheeran the very best for the forthcoming gig and hope to catch up with them all soon.
