learn-to-play-day-2014The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) and Andertons Music Store are pleased to announce their involvement in National Learn to Play day on 12th April 2014 allowing people of all ages to try pick up a musical instrument for FREE!

In partnership, and supported by ACM and Andertons, National Learn to Play Day (NLTP) will host a number of free public taster music lessons in Guitar, Bass and Drums. Under the watchful eye and guidance of ACM’s acclaimed music tutor faculty, ANYONE will have the opportunity to visit ACM’s Guildford Music School and take part in bite-sized taster sessions in ACM’s Rodboro Building.

“Learning to play an instrument is a wonderful experience in itself. It takes time and dedication and once mastered, brings a lifetime of enjoyment. Learning music also brings people together, develops self-esteem and encourages other life skills such as confidence and creativity. It just takes that first step which is why we are proud to support National Learn to Play Day, providing taster sessions for those who have never played or for those that might be a little rusty and just need a some encouragement.”
Roger Davis Head of ACM Part Time School

Throughout the day there could be some very special guest musicians who might drop by and have a go themselves!

More about National Learn to Play Day

The National Learn to Play Day is organised by the charity Music for All in partnership with the Musicians’ Union, Arts Council England’s Take It Away scheme, and

Music for All, the charity of the UK’s musical instrument industry who will be working hand-in-hand with its partners, instrument manufacturers, music shops and other venues, celebrities, musicians and many more to encourage anyone and everyone, young or old, to join in this amazing musical learning experience.

I am delighted to lend my support to the National Learn to Play Day. This is the day when we offer the general public free music lessons in musical instrument shops and other venues throughout the United Kingdom. Whether you used to play or whether you have always wanted to play, this is the day for you. I am delighted to be able to help Music for All in their quest to inspire more people to participate in music making.”
