The Academy of Contemporary Music were pleased to welcome Yamaha artists Bass Guitarist Dishan Abrahams and Drummer Tom Meadows to Guildford to deliver their very first performance masterclass session to a packed out audience of current ACM students.

The two hour masterclass session was the perfect start to the new ACM term and saw Dishan and Tom speak at length about their time on tour with some of the world’s finest live performance artists including Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis, Duffy, Pixie Lott and Will Young.

The pair also gave numerous in-depth evaluations about how how they replicate the record in a live setting, blending sounds from the record with natural live sounds. Together they performed the ‘final mix’ for the audience, and then deconstructed how they work out their parts, programme, re-invent and how they go about performing live from the first rehearsal to the final live performance with Kylie Minogue before taking questions from an eager student audience.

Following the masterclass session, ACM Fellow and Vocal Tutor Jono McNeil caught up with Dishan and Tom to talk about their ‘ACM Experience’ and find out more about the pair’s exploits whilst on tour with Kylie.

ACM would like to extend our thanks to both Dishan and Tom for taking time out from their busy touring schedule to visit and deliver a sensational masterclass session and wish them well for all their forthcoming projects.
