After being propelled into the spotlight in 2007, Kate Nash has returned to the UK tour scene to promote her brand new album, the follow-up to Best Friend Is You, and its predecessor, Made of Bricks.
Along the way Kate and her band will be playing 12 UK venues as part of the The Faster Pussycat Run Run Tour including Guildford’s Boileroom on Friday June 29. Despite being an unfamiliar venue for Kate, her all-girl ACM Alumni backing band have fond memories of the venue.
This will be a long overdue return for former ACM students Emma Hughes (bass), Carmen Vandenberg (guitar), Linda Buratto (guitar) and Fern Ford (drums), all of whom Kate speaks particularly highly of;
“My manager went to ACM and she knew a lot people there. Before my tour last year, she suggested we looked there for a backing band. I saw and then interviewed a few musicians and I knew straight away the ones that I wanted, and they have been great and now they’re like my best friends.”
Kate Nash Speaking about ACM
Fans of Kate’s previous work can expect to hear the same quirky lyrics, but she acknowledges the new material and her image have had a bit of an overhaul.
“I’m a musician and I want to change, just as you do as a person. People change and move on, you don’t want people to remember you for something you’ve done in college when you’ve done so much more since then. I don’t think you can call yourself an artist if you don’t grow and progress.”
Kate Nash On her new direction
ACM is very much looking forward to catching up with Emma, Carmen and Fern when they return to Guildford and wish them and Kate luck for the Tour and new album
Kate Nash plays the Boileroom in Guildford on Friday June 29. Tickets cost £15 in advance or £16 on the door. To book visit www.theboileroom.net.
