Salary range: £26,000 - £30,000

PURPOSE

The Quality and Standards Officer will report to the Director of Policy and Governance and will provide the main administrative support to the ACM governance structure, including maintaining the schedule of meetings and reviews, acting as clerk to committees and review panels, taking minutes and writing reports. The role involves using and enhancing systems-based solutions to support this work, with an existing in-house system ripe for further development. The role will also involve the provision of advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders on matters of academic quality and regulations. This will include providing primary support to the student representatives who are an integral part of our governance process. The Quality and Standards Officer will be part of a small team in ACM supporting quality, student engagement and feedback, collaborative partnerships, and new policy projects, therefore this position provides opportunities to gain a wide range of experiences to support future careers.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule and coordinate the annual cycle of governance activities as laid out in ACM academic regulations and provide administrative support to the Quality, Governance and Policy Team.
  • To oversee the production and dissemination of ACM calendars for term dates and committees.
  • Act as Clerk to and take minutes for a range of committees across the ACM Governance structure
  • Manage the course representative system and provide advice and guidance to student representatives in preparation for their roles across the ACM Governance process.
  • Provide advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on the ACM Governance and Review and Audit processes.
  • Support review teams for the ACM cycle of annual review.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and standard reports for internal and external bodies (e.g. committee papers, reports and project briefs).
  • Support the management of potential and existing Collaborative Partnerships.
  • Communicate with students, staff and other internal stakeholders the activity of the ACM governance committees.
  • Disseminate information to internal and external stakeholders regarding changes to the ACM governance and review process.
  • Produce and maintain procedures relating to academic governance and quality assurance within ACM.
  • Support key projects within the Quality, Governance and Policy Team
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery, processes and practices.
  • Assist other departments within across ACM during peak times.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATIONED
An undergraduate qualification or relevant professional experience, with a high level of literacy.X 
Experience of supporting student representationX 
Evidence of strong analytical skills and the ability to propose potential solutions to regulatory or logistical problemsX 
The ability to prepare and maintain documentation and standard reports for internal and external bodiesX 
Excellent report writing and committee servicing skillsX 
Ability to identify and support systems-based solutions to support processes X
Experience of working with external organisations in a higher education context X
An understanding of the role of the Office for Students (OfS)

This job purpose reflects the core activities of the post. As the Department and the post-holder develop, there will inevitable be some changes to the duties for which the post is responsible, and possible to the emphasis of the post itself.
