FINANCE DEPARTMENT:
The Finance Department is responsible for the accounting of 8 statutory entities within the group, as well as some
standalone entities. In addition to accounting, finance is also responsible for company secretarial duties, contracts and
insurance. The statutory entity that provides education services, is registered with the Office for Students, for which
there are specific regulatory reporting requirements. The finance team work closely with the business to ensure full understanding of the ever-changing landscape to enable
relevant and reliable forecasting and scenario modelling to support business decision making.

The Finance team is comprised of 3 qualified accountants and 5 finance clerks. Given the size of the department and
the diverse nature of the group the work will be very hands-on and varied.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monthly management accounts preparation for all entities within the group including variance analysis
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and overseeing maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Preparation of year end statutory accounts
  • Preparation of year end audit schedules and liaison with the auditors.
  • Preparation of VAT returns (including partial exemption calculations).
  • Accounting and monitoring of grant expenditure.
  • Review of corporation tax computations.
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Development and documentation of internal financial controls, systems and processes.
  • Support the Head of Finance with ad hoc tasks as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Strong technical and analytical accounting skills.
  • Self-motivated with an eye for detail and the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
  • Ability to produce accurate work and consistently deliver to reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly build relationships with internal and external contracts at all levels with confidence.
  • Motivated by a changing, growing environment.
