ROLE PURPOSE:
The purpose of the role of Junior Learning Designer is to support the design, development and
delivery of our engaging digital learning experiences. To assist in the collaboration with tutors,
support staff and the Digital Education team, to create interactive course materials. Assistance in
providing system administration support when necessary.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Assist in developing and maintaining e-learning content, including multimedia resources,
quizzes and activities
● Collaborate with SMEs (subject matter experts) to plan engaging and innovative learning
solutions
● Work with our VLE and other digital tools to organise and publish course materials
● To conduct user testing and gather feedback to help improve digital content
● Ensure accessibility standards are met across all online learning resources
● Stay updated on growing trends in digital learning and learning technologies
● To take ownership of support issues and seek closure ensuring all relevant support
procedures are followed
● Escalation of more complex calls to the relevant support team member
● Participation in an out-of-hours support rota as required
● Support the wider Digital Education team as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
● A passion for education and technology, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
● Excellent customer service skills (written and verbal)
● A good understanding of learning design, online learning, and pedagogical
strategies
● A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced
environment
● Comfortable working with creative professionals
Desirable
● Experience developing interactive content, audio, and/or video assets
● An understanding of Canvas LMS, HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript
● Prior experience in education, particularly in Higher Education

This job purpose reflects the core activities of the post. As the Department and t
post-holder develop, there will inevitably be some changes to the duties for which the post is
responsible, and possibly to the emphasis of the post itself. ACM expects that the
post-holder will recognise this and will adopt a flexible approach to work. This could include undertaking relevant training where necessary. Should significant changes to the job
purpose become necessary, the post-holder will be consulted and the changes reflected in a
revised job purpose.
