Online Learning Designer / Developer

The purpose of the role of Online Learning Developer is to research, design, and develop
learning materials and assets to support the Digital Education team.

● Creating engaging learning activities and compelling training materials
● Working with the Learning Technologists to create high quality support materials,
to assist staff and students in the effective use of ACM’s online platforms
● Working with subject matter experts and identifying target audience’s learning
● Continuously improve the quality assurance approach ensuring that the digital
materials are fit for purpose within the regulatory environment and comply with
established technical standards
● Research, test, trial, and create training for new systems introduced to ACM
providing the creative flair and imagination to ensure that the learning tools are
innovative, fun, and interesting
● Update and amend existing online learning content, especially creating video
online learning content, adapting training / learning material from face-to-face to
online learning
● Support the rest of the Digital Education Team in exploring new learning
technologies that may benefit ACM and initiate projects to test them with staff
and students
● Sign-post staff to existing online training
● Contribute actively to the ACM’s communities, highlighting developments within
the field of learning technologies
● Minimum 3 years’ experience in designing, developing and uploading learning
content with an emphasis on video content – please submit or link to a portfolio of
● Minimum 3 years’ experience using a VLE such as Canvas, Moodle or Blackboard
Experience designing training materials for a wide range of audiences
● High level of accuracy and attention to detail
● Must be an exceptional team-player, willing and able to pick up ‘the ball and run’
in a fast-paced environment
● Experienced evaluating systems, processes and structure of an organisation in
order to design tools and systems needed is desirable.
● Experience of using Adobe CC, including Premiere Pro and After Effects
● Understanding of HTML5 and JavaScript would be beneficial, but not essential

Location: This position is primarily remote, but may require travel to our campuses at
Guildford, London or Birmingham.

This job purpose reflects the core activities of the post. As the Department and the
post-holder develop, there will inevitably be some changes to the duties for which the
post is responsible, and possibly to the emphasis of the post itself. ACM expects that the
post-holder will recognise this and will adopt a flexible approach to work. This could include undertaking relevant training where necessary. Should significant changes to
the job purpose become necessary, the post-holder will be consulted and the changes
reflected in a revised job purpose.
