2012’s Industry Performance Showcase was the opportunity for student bands to perform in front of a panel of industry professionals and receive direct feedback on their songs and overall performance.
Taking place at Guildford’s Live Music Venue The Boileroom, bands were asked to perform two original songs in order to receive constructive feedback that would be beneficial for the students future musical careers.
Each band/artist was also asked to bring along any artwork, photos, biogs, copies of any press reviews and anything else that would assist the panelists in providing constructive comments and critique.
This year’s panel included three industry professionals who have experience in the fields of artist development, artist management, publishing, bookings, A&R, promoting and marketing: (pictured from left to right)
- Jonnie Blackburn – A&R Consultant (Sony/Universal)
- Cary Caldwell – The Great Escape/South By South West
- Chris Dempsey – Columbia, Sony
Students were also encouraged to prepare three key questions to put to the panelists in order to better develop their performance and promotional skills.
“All the bands played really well and went away happy with the constructive criticism they received from the industry panelists. The industry guests were very impressed with the standard of artists at ACM”
