Study Block 2 – 20 Credits

The Improvisation in Performance module will equip you with an arsenal of improvisational skills and methods, with the ultimate outcome of innovative musical expression in your specialist area. The skills and vocabulary learned in these lectures are fundamental to music performance and will be applied within practical scenarios throughout the course.

In addition to learning the module’s prescribed content, you will be encouraged to develop your own approach to learning, in order to effectively enhance your technical abilities, apply your newly-learned skills in a broader music context and develop an individual approach to your specialist area.

You are expected to apply efficient time management and a strategic approach throughout the module. Lecture content will be supported with tutorials, group sessions and masterclass performances.
