Since winning MTV’s Brand New for 2013, an ACM Artist Development & Songwriting student, Ebony Day, has had her life and schedule turned upside down and has been propelled into the music spotlight after winning MTV’s Brand New for 2013.

In between fan meet and greet days in Manchester and invitations from some of the UK and world’s leading music labels, Ebony and manager Lucy Tallant (current ACM Music Business Degree student), have continued their dedication to Ebony’s growing fan base by recording a new and exclusive video performance with Drop Out UK.

Ebony, who was accompanied by guitarist Ollie Coombes and cajon player Conor Mortimer – (also current ACM students), performed a cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’ before performing a moving rendition of an original song titled ‘Gone’ on a brand new Freshman acoustic guitar – a recent full industry endorsement.

About Drop Out UK
Dropout UK is an online music and entertainment magazine for the ‘Adulteens’ of the world. (Think the name explains it all!) The magazine is orientated around capturing ‘Indy’ origins, whilst embracing the essence of ‘Young Adulthooud’ and re-enforcing popular culture.

We do not do niches. We steer clear of targeting a particular stereotype. We do POP. If it’s popular, or our sources tell us it’s about to make some kind of noise, Dropout make sure you know about it first!

More about Drop Out UK.

Ebony found herself pitted against nine other established and signed artists including Angel Haze, Gabrielle Aplin and Haim (Voted the BBC’s Sound of 2013), but was crowned as MTV’s Brand New for 2013 at the end of January 2013. The annual contest is based on an open vote with the artists positions changing daily. With the help of her growing online fan base, Ebony jumped from seventh to first place and never looked back securing over 40% of the online vote.

ACM would like to thank Ebony Day, Lucy Tallant, Ollie Coombes and Conor Mortimer for taking time out from their busy schedules to speak to us and keep us posted on the Team Ebony campaign for MTV Brand New for 2013. ACM would like to wish them all the very best for the future.
