ACM was pleased to welcome drummer Rob Brian to the Guildford campus and who delivered a drum masterclass session on Tuesday 19th November. The session took place in ACM’s Rodboro Building in Room 14 from 4pm.

More about Rob Brian
Rob Brian has been playing drums since 1979 with early influences that included bands like Blondie, The Stranglers, The Police, and Gary Numan. As time went on, Rob’s sphere of influences expanded to include Buddy Rich, Ringo Starr and Ian Paice (Deep Purple).

In his early years Rob joined the Corsham Town Brass Band before migrating to the Bath jazz scene where he has been ‘sitting in’ for the last 20 odd years learning the things that no books can teach and lessons that last a lifetime!

Throughout his career Rob has performed and toured with a host of bands including Coati Mundi, Modern English, Innes Sibun, Peter Gabriel, Moles, NAM, Real World, Siouxsie Sioux and countless sessions for the BBC – including TV appearances on Jools Holland and Jonathan Ross – and has performed around the world including countless international festivals and sold out world renowned venues including Ronnie Scotts.

As a jazz drummer Rob has been very lucky to have played in trio’s at gigs and festivals that have backed visiting front men such as John Critchenson, Derek Nash, Tommy Whittle, Jim Mullen as well was the fortnightly jazz gig with the great sax player Danny Sheppard.

Rob continues to play countless one nighters around the towns and cities of England.
