The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) always prides itself on being the link between education and the music industry, and its recent trip to Metropolis Studios proved that this is indeed the case. The second year Audio Production degree students spent the day up at ACM’s partner company, witnessing first hand the processes involved at the world’s largest independent recording studio.
The field trip commenced with a tour by Metropolis’ CEO Ian Brenchley, introducing our students to the world famous studios – home to Freddie Mercury’s Fazioli amongst a plethora of priceless equipment and award winning facilities.
The tour was not the only highlight of the day however, as Metropolis also offered two ACM bands the incredible opportunity to have their original tracks worked on at the Powerhouse studio complex.

ACM Students Experience Professional Recording // Mastering Services
Madd Elizabeth, a band formed by ACM performance students in their second year, notched their very own piece of history by recording one of their own tracks at Metropolis, joining the long list of musical royalty that has worked in these very studios (think Queen, The Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse, Madonna…). The band were in safe hands too, recording with Metropolis’s sound engineer Ben Rhodes!

The Small Society also earned a taste of the work that goes into Mastering a #1 album, as their stems felt the magic touch of Tim Young. The Metropolis Mastering team have mastered a hatful of iconic albums that have dominated the UK and US charts lately, including; Lana Del Rey, George Ezra, Led Zeppelin & Oasis re-masters, Royal Blood, FKA Twigs, Ed Sheeran. Fingers crossed the Small Society will be next!
