Singer / Songwriter » Pop

Vikki is a pop singer-songwriter from Birmingham, but is now studying music at ACM in Guildford. Ever since she was 4 she has been into performing, doing things such as school productions, and family performances from a young age. She would also sing along to artists such as Beyoncé, Britney Spears and Nelly. From the age of 7 she started playing clarinet, for a couple of months, to then change to singing and piano lessons. Music has always been a main hobby of hers, which was due to her Granddad influencing her to perform at a young age. When she was 9 her granddad passed away, and since then she has found it her duty to do him proud, and try to continue the musical aspect within her family, by playing the piano, singing, and starting to song write. Until the age of 16 she was classically trained, however this soon changed when she moved to college to pursue her interest in contemporary music.

As an artist she is very mainstream and pop music orientated. To her music is not just a job or something you listen to, it is a way to express yourself, and let others into your experiences. Music is what she wishes to pursue as a full career because she is capable to do it, and she wishes to be able to say I enjoy my job.

As an artist, solo and in groups, she has done several performances, paid and unpaid for many different occasions. She started off performing in school performances, and has moved on further to perform in and around the city centre of Birmingham. Due to doing a music Btec she had to do many performances at college and within groups, which she believes has majorly helped me in getting her used to working with bands and other performers. She used to be part of a duo act, doing things such as performing on the Forum Live stage for Free Radio live 2 years running, pre-shows for Usher, Train and Enrique Iglesias, and the Birmingham Made Me Awards at Millennium Point. As a solo artist she has done things such as open mics, and small events, but also performed acapella for an Arts Conference which included the BBC, ITV and the chairman of the BAFTA awards.

Originally she was inspired by her Grandad, at the age of 4, to play the piano and to sing, listening to artists such as Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears and Rihanna. As she grew up, Beyoncé was a huge inspiration to her, as well as the rise of Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. She has always followed and been inspired by pop and RnB singers because to her they have always been in the spotlight, and always been able to release good melodic songs. More recently new and upcoming artists such as Zara Larsson and Bebe Rexha have inspired her to write new music.

As an artist she is very similar to Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato because she listens to them a lot, so without knowing she writes in a similar style to them. She also seems to be similar to Taylor Swift in how some of her songs sound, and the tone of her voice in some parts. To add to this, the musical theme and style of her music is similar to Victoria Justice and Arianna Grande in the way it is written.
