Katy Hurt is one of Britain’s brightest young country singer-songwriters and winner of the Battle of the Bands at the 2014 Rockfield Country Music Festival. During that breakthrough year, when Katy also released her debut EP, “ Blue Snake”, she made regular performances in a variety of high profile venues whilst still attending school.
One of her earliest singing successes came in the Live and Unsigned competition with a Final performance at London’s O2 Arena.
Katy spent her early years in New York, gaining an understanding and appreciation of the country sound, subsequently moving with her family to the UK, where she now lives in Southern England. Earlier this year guitar-playing Katy supported Luke and Mel at Fort San Antone and in June was invited to perform at the 800th anniversary celebrations of the Magna Carta at Runnymede. She has recently started full time work on her music at The Academy of Contemporary Music and is working in conjunction with Metropolis Studios.
Katy’s new single, Part Time Girlfriend follows hot on the heels of the emotional roller coaster of the Blue Snake EP. It is an anthem for anyone looking to liberate themselves from a one-sided relationship. Part Time Girlfriend was released on the 23 Nov and reached No 2 in the UK Country iTunes charts and No. 16 in the US charts.
