Freelance Musician

Dean Parker is a freelance guitarist based in Surrey, currently completing his BMus (Hons) Professional Music Performance Degree at The Academy of Contemporary Music, Guildford.

Born in Northumberland, Dean was introduced to the guitar at an early age. Playing from the age of 9 and performing professionally from the age of 13, Dean has also been a tutor of acoustic/electric guitar, ukulele, mandolin, piano and music theory for over 5 years.

Influenced early on by players such as Rory Gallagher, Brent Mason and Keith Scott, he began to derive his own take on playing the guitar.

Getting involved with a number of different acts and shows has led him to a variety of gigs and festival appearances. This includes ‘Country 2 Country Festival’ at the o2 Arena, London alongside acts such as The Shires,‘Corbridge Festival’ supporting artists such as Ocean Colour Scene, as well as appearances at Metropolis studios, London.

Following eleven years of both contemporary and classical experience, Dean now studies at the aforementioned Academy of Contemporary Music, Guildford, studying under tutors such as Pete Roth (London Gala Orchestra, Bill Bruford), Jon Bishop (Shakin’ Stevens, Westlife), Jamie West-Oram (David Bowie, Tina Turner) and Paul Turner (Jamiroquai, Annie Lennox). This has coincided with a number of professional gigs.

Throughout the past year Dean has had the pleasure of playing professionally in the ACM House Band (under the direction of Andy Nixon – Tutor at ACM, Nina Nesbitt, Shania Twain), performing as a guest guitarist in the production ‘Seven Decades’ (directed by Michael John Ross – Nick Mason, Simon Le Bon) and alongside acclaimed guitarist Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big, Racer X). As well as touring the UK with a number of pop acts.

He can also be seen alongside a number of original artists including ‘Backwoods Creek’, ‘Dean Mccaw’ and ‘Fiori’ live and in the studio as well as in his own ensemble, ‘Dean Parker Band’.

Dean stands out in his commitment to his instrument and his exceptional positive attitude towards all styles of music. Dean was always first to volunteer playing in front of the class and always executes musical material to a professional standard. Dean will make a great contribution to all acts and projects he will be involved in.” –

Pete Roth (Tutor at ACM, London Gala Orchestra, Bill Bruford)

Dean has shown himself to be a truly gifted, adaptable and professional musician on all levels. He plays with confidence and skill beyond his years and compliments any musical situation. His attitude is always first class and he is a great performer. In my opinion he can achieve anything he wishes in the music industry. A great musician, a hard worker and a wonderful person
