“As The Sun Sleeps” are a 4 piece pop-punk band from Swindon, England with drummer, Shrimp, currently attending ACM in Guildford. After it’s conception in 2014, the band announced they would be releasing a self titled EP. It was crafted with a “do it yourself” attitude, calling in favors left, right and center. It was well received and followed up with an acoustic release “Cathays” that showed the bands ability to diversify their sound.
Wanting to give more to their ever growing fan base, the boys decided to record a new song for single release called “Nostalgia”. The step up in production values was evident after going back in to record with Theo Altieri (Warner Chappell). But, it never lost it’s underlying DIY mentality with the release of the accompanying video that was shot, edited, produced and direct by the band. It received great reviews and let people know that they meant business.
Shortly after their successful single release, ATSS were given an opportunity to play their first live show, opening for Gnarwolves none the less. It was clear from their performance that they were ready to get out on the road and start gigging further a field, so, their successful maiden voyage was followed up with shows in Bristol, Bath, Cardiff, Swindon and Guildford to see the year out.
With an ever growing list of songs the lads decided to take the next step and record their second EP to be released in January 2016 entitled “Never Stars”. Knowing the EP had a lot to live up to from their previous releases they decided to travel to Steel City Studio in Sheffield to record. They worked with Drew Lawson (While She Sleeps, ROAM) over 3 days to produce a polished and professional sounding record. The band have already released the single “Digging Deep” along with a video which has been received incredibly well with over 1,000 views within the first 5 days and coverage on “Punktasic”, “Moshville Times” and “What happened to your band”. This video exceeded everyone’s expectations and showed that although the content is lighthearted, they are here to be taken seriously.
“As The Sun Sleeps” are about to embark on their first tour, playing 7 dates in the south of the UK off the back of the “Never Stars” release in mid January.
The lads will be filming a video for their second single off the EP “Lifelines” at the start of March. They will be working with YouTube sensation Harry Partridge to achieve something very special and totally different.
