If you like a little bit of “boom boom and doobie do bop bop” then Prima Queen will be right up your street!

We sat down with ACM Alumni Kristin McFadden and Louise Macphail – AKA Prima Queen – to find out what to expect from their Alternative Escape performance at our night at the North Laine…

Introduce Prima Queen, what courses did you do at ACM?

“We met in 2016 during Kristin’s semester abroad in London. While both attending what was then the Songwriting and Artist Development IQ course at Metropolis Studios, Louise asked Kristin if she would be in a girl band with her before even hearing any of her music.”

What can we expect from your set at ACM’s Alternative Escape Showcase this year?

“A little bit of boom boom and doobie do bop bop, then quite a bit of “awwww” and loads of ” hahaha”…!”

What have you been up to since graduating? Any highlights as a band?

“Since graduating, we had to work on the band long distance, as Kristin had to finish her degree in America. We both moved back to London last September to study at Goldsmiths University of London. There, we met our new band members Heledd, Kitty and Harry.”

If you could go back and give yourselves one piece of advice from the start of your course what would it be and why?

“Write as many songs with as many different people as you can during your course.”

What’s next for Prima Queen?

“Gigging loads and writing new songs whilst recording an EP that should be released later this year.”
