ACM (The Academy of Contemporary Music) has become the very first specialist contemporary music school in further and higher education to offer students an exchange programme between the UK and US, two of the largest global music markets.
The agreement, which was signed on a recent visit by ACM CEO Julia Leggett to Oklahoma means ACM students will be given the unique opportunity to study with contemporary music experts both at ACM in England and with it’s sister college ACM@UCO in Oklahoma.
UCO President Don Betz and ACM, signed the exchange program agreement on May 9 at UCO, which will see a hand-picked number of students from the US and UK colleges travel and study in each others ACM school environments and experience life on UCO’s central campus and ACM@UCO’s world class tutors.
“This is a unique opportunity for our UK and US students to enjoy the ACM experience on both sides of the Atlantic. Students will benefit from the exchange programme, musically and culturally, and we’re very excited to offer such an amazing opportunity. This programme paves the way for additional exchange opportunities for both existing and forthcoming ACM international schools.”

“This exchange program will provide our students with a truly unique and transformative experience. The music industry in the U.K. is thriving and has great talent. The experience will broaden our students’ perspectives, giving them a sense of the global scope of the industry.”
Scott Booker CEO of ACM@UCO
Both schools hope to have ACM@UCO and ACM Guildford students participating in the exchange program by 2014 and more details about the exchange program will be released in due course including the student selection process.
More about ACM@UCO
The ACM@UCO opened its doors to its first class of students in August 2009 on one floor of the Oklahoma Hardware Building in Bricktown on Flaming Lips Alley. Since then, the program has grown to fill three floors of the building and the ACM@UCO Performance Lab, also located in Bricktown.
Based on the successful model from the original ACM in England, the ACM@UCO is an innovative music program unlike any other in the U.S., offering an industry-based, “real world” educational experience for those interested in a career in contemporary music.
From its location in downtown Oklahoma City’s Bricktown district, the ACM@UCO offers two-year associate degree programs in bass, drums, guitar, keyboard, music business, music production and vocals, with the option to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Technology degree.
