The smell of funk was in the air as once again ACM’s Higher Diploma Students took to the Electric Theatre stage to deliver day three of the ACM HDip Showcase.
Funk is a genre that spans many music styles but traditionally blended soul, jazz and R&B to make a rhythmic and very danceable piece, which was certainly the case throughout the entire five and half hour showcase.
The afternoon session featured six bands including Blue Midnight, Tamsyn and The Mike Teruggi Band while the evening session included seven other students bands including Swingtown, Fusion and The Matt McConnon Band.
“It was great to see the students tearing it up last night at the Electric Theatre. I was especially pleased to see how many bands had been writing some fantastic original material and showcasing it on the night. You all had me smiling and applauding from the back of the room”
Mike Goodwin Senior Lecturer – Guitar
ACM would like to say a massive thank you to all the ACM Higher Diploma students who took part in the Funk Showcase and for all the hard work they and the ACM team has put in throughout their year.
All of ACM’s HDip The End of Year Showcases are taking place at Guildford’s Electric Theatre with each night focusing on a different musical genre including Alternative, Pop and Electronic Music.
