The ACM Bass Performance Degree recognises the need for aspiring bassists to develop their performance skills alongside acquiring an understanding of business acumen. ACM’s Bass Performance Degree fulfills these requirements and helps students to develop industry contacts and see the real side of music through studio and touring experiences.

The Performance Degree is a two year accelerated degree course, which combines theoretical and practical music education preparing bass students for their first steps into the music industry through three levels of music education.

All ACM Performance Degree courses are run in association with our education partners at Middlesex University.

Course Requirements

Degree 2 Years (6 x 15 week Terms)

Entry Requirements
2 x A-levels @ C grade, or equivalent Level 3 qualification.
Grade 5 music theory (ABRSM) or equivalent is preferred but not essential. 160 UCAS pts

Students may be able to access these courses without the above qualifications based on prior relevant experience, quality of application and quality of audition/interview. Exception is also given in certain circumstances based on successful completion of a relevant intensive course.

Minimum age 18

Students aged 17 who have successfully completed the ACM Diploma in Music can progress to the ACM Degree level courses provided they show the required level of attendance, commitment and maturity.

Studying an ACM Performance Degree provides students with opportunities to pilot commercial projects, with guidance from our working bassists and music faculty and through the use of ACM’s state-of-the-art bass and performance facilities including the Musicman Bass Studio.

Throughout the course performance degree students are actively encouraged to initiate various professional engagements, which may include recording, national tours, concert promotion and industry showcases. Students are also expected to devote significant time to technical aspects of musicianship, studio and production work and industry related projects in addition to their academic obligations on the Bass Performance Degree.

In addition to being taught by some of the industries best musicians – see our current Bass Tutors – full time degree students will also be invited to regular Bass Masterclasses from some of the top names in music.
