Vocal School - Introduction

Line Hilton - Vocal School ManagerHello! Thank you for considering the vocal programme at ACM.

First up I have to be straight with you, the music industry is not for the faint-hearted, unmotivated or timid. But if you decide to go ahead and join us at ACM we can promise to educate, facilitate and nurture you and your talent.

On our ACM vocal courses, we believe singers should receive the industry relevant skills, knowledge, experiences and guidance to make them as employable as possible. We also believe that singers should know how to access their creative spark so they can choose the ‘artist’ path if they wish to. All the vocal teachers are still actively working in the music industry and are eager to share their wide array of relevant training, skills and practical insights with others.

The courses have been designed to help you develop not only vocal and performance skills, but also general musicianship and business know-how. You will attend classes and master-classes that cover topics such as vocal technique, styling in a a wide variety of genres, vocal health, performance skills, aural perceptions, touring, music theory, song writing and music business studies. This way when you finally leave us you will be well on the way to being in control of your voice, your music and your career! In addition to the classroom based subjects we have many performance opportunities for you to experience such as Live Performance Workshop, Backing Vocals, Soul Improv, Pro Vocals, Gospel Choir and Studio Production where you can get live studio experience with professional sound engineers.

You will be introduced to a wide range of vocal styles and genres as well as being given insight into the craft of vocal harmony and session singing. For a more individualised approach we provide optional one-to-one tutorials, which can be taken weekly.

There will be opportunities throughout your course to showcase your skills in front of other students, the general public and industry professionals. These opportunities will not only give you valuable feedback to ensure you are constantly developing your skills and talent, but can potentially expose you to the people who can make your career happen.

We at ACM want to help you reach your goals and dreams as a singer and musician, including the ones you haven’t even had yet! Not only will you find ACM an exciting and enriching musical environment, but I know you will also make many life lasting friendships along the way. Looking forward to meeting you in person.
